The Couple Who Lost Their Wedding Photographs Meet Photographer Kat Forsyth For A Styled Smokey Shoot
When Ché and Warren, a South African couple living in London
got married, they could not wait to get their photographs back and have a look.
However, little did they know that this would never happen.
Their photographer’s dog had a fight with the hard drive that contained each
and every one of their photographs and they were all destroyed.
They spent the next three years (after devastation) traveling
the world in their wedding outfits and recreating their photo album in their
own unique way, which you can read more about here.
Another thing that has kept this positive couple busy is
their unique styled shoot with one of my favourite photographers, Kat Forsyth.
Kat decided to contact the couple after reading about their horrific
wedding loss on the internet via a blog post that Ché had posted.
Having experienced life in the eyes of both a bride and a
wedding photographer, Kat knew full well that this is a couple, and a
photographer’s worst nightmare of a situation.
One thing that really impressed Kat about Ché is the
positivity of her attitude. She spent a lot of her time when blogging, talking
about all of the things that she was grateful for in life and that despite
losing the photographs from her wedding, there were so many other things she
would rather have in life.
“I loved her sense of humour about it and the fact that she
and Warren were totally taking the lemons life had given them, and having a Gin
& Tonic” Kat said.
Kat was also a South African living in London so the bond
was instant and the two women emailed back and forth until they arranged a date
and theme for the shoot.
They decided on something in the golden evening and wanted
to incorporate smoke bombs into the mix.
I absolutely love the result of this shoot. The magic and
mystical energy is so easy to see and Kat couldn’t have wished for a more
gorgeous couple to shoot.
Kat just loved them - “Che and Warren were gorgeous, but
they were such natural, happy, in love people. I was basically jumping up and
down with excitement, yelling ‘THIS IS SO PRETTY’ at every opportunity.”
To make the shoot happen, the photographer suggested the
idea to her floral designer Gwenda from The Vintage Floral Design Co, she
suggested bringing Proteas, into the shoot – a stunning South African flower to
embrace Ché and Warren’s roots.
The smoke bomb effect is beyond gorgeous and unbeknown to us
as onlookers, the background was actually created by Gwenda and her daughter
running around in the background with the coloured props to make these images
look the way they do.
If that isn’t dedication, I don’t know what is.
The images have turned out incredible and the relationship
and bond which Kat Forsyth made with the beautiful couple proves her to be more
than just a wedding photographer.
She has created enchanted and inspiring pictures which any
married couple would feel blessed to have and no one can question her talent.
I love Ché and Warren's story and how it's lead to amazing things, including this phenomenal styled shoot with Kat.
My question to you is, what would you do if you lost all of your wedding photographs?
