If you have chosen a wedding in the height of summer, then what could be nicer than holding your wedding reception outdoors? Whether your venue has some amazing grounds where you can hold your reception, or you have the perfect garden in mind to hold your event, an outdoor wedding reception just feels that bit extra special.

If you are holding your wedding reception outside then there are a few things you will need to consider. If you are having music then you may need a licence and you may find there are restrictions as to how loud and late music can play for. If you are holding your reception at a registered wedding venue then they will have all of this information. However, if you are holding your reception somewhere like a park then you may need to ask your local council about noise restrictions.

An outdoor wedding can be so much fun and there are some great touches you can add to your special day. You can decorate the surrounding area with beautiful hanging lanterns and tea light holders that will give a romantic feel to your day. This lantern (pictured) available from Ingarden looks beautiful and will protect any candles you light from blowing out in the wind. If it’s especially warm on your big day then decorative parasols will give much appreciated shade, whist also looking beautiful in your wedding photographs.

One of the most important factors to consider when organising an outdoor wedding reception is the weather. Although it’s great to have a positive attitude and hope for sun, it’s always best to prepare for the worst. Gazebos or marquees are a great idea as they offer shelter from any downpours that could occur, alternatively if it’s a particularly hot and sunny day then they will offer some welcome shade from the sun.

It may also be a good idea to have some wedding umbrellas to hand to help shelter from the rain if need be, you can get some beautiful styles such as these ones by Perditas Wedding Shoes. But even if the worst happens and it does rain, you can rest assured that with a great atmosphere and surrounded by your family and friends, you are sure to still have a great time!
