Speech:

Thanks Dad for those kind words...

I will admit to being a little nervous about making my speech today. Suffice to say this isn't the first time  that I've risen from a warm seat  with a piece of paper in my hand. This is partly the reason for having the speeches before we eat, for who knows what else could have happened.

My wife and I............... thank you all for coming.  Many of you have travelled along way and we are delighted to see you all here. You being here and your generosity have really touched us. Thank you all.

I would like to thank Barry and Vanessa for their warm welcome into their family from the very second time of meeting. I first met Gails mum in Jamacia and I still remember  her rubbing my....back with lotion.  Things weren't as hot as you may be thinking. But seriously, I  will always welcome you both  to our home and hope to express as much love as you have shown me.

Mum and Dad, you have always been there for me when I needed you most. Your love has never faltered, and Dad, thanks again for your kind words. They almost turned me to drink!

I know Gail would like me to thank you both for the love you have shown her, because I know it is genuine.

Gail and I are deeply grateful to both our parents, for their help in planning this day and for the use of their cheque books!

We have some small gifts for you, and also for the Bridesmaids, the Best Man and Ushers, the page boys and flower girls. A little thank you from us for doing a fine job.   Don't the little ones look great!

So onto my wife.... I mean, doesn't she look stunning!

Gail, it is an honour to be your husband. From the first time I saw you, your smile just melted away the cares of the day and brightened my way. Now we go forward together rejoicing all the way. I feel truly grateful for this blessing.

Now, my Best Man. Every Bridegroom needs a Best Man he can totally rely on, somebody organised who can take charge and make the day run smoothly - a person very serious and responsible. Fortunately, I knew John, our toastmaster, could do that, so I had no problem with my best mate Kevin as Best Man. I was quite glad Kevin didn't organise the stag party because we had no trouble whatsoever and I got away scot free. All joking aside, thanks Kev. You have always been there for me no matter what and I really appreciate it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to finish with the traditional Bridegrooms toast to the Bridesmaids. So please be upstanding and raise your glasses to Laurna and Nikki.
