About Kilshane House

Tipperary
Tipperary

Kilshane House, a Regency house built in 1822, is the centrepiece of 320 acres of private parkland in the heart of CountyTipperary.  The huge curvilinear Conservatory, circa 1860, is licensed for intimate civil ceremonies and/or blessings.  The Orangerie, with a full bar at one end, and the dance floor at the other,  can comfortably seat 220 guests.  The only guests in the 54 bedrooms en-suite are the ones you invite to the wedding.  We have all the advantages of a private house and none of the disadvantages of a hotel !

An elegant dinner in the formal dining room for 24 guests the night before the wedding can be expanded to 100 in the Conservatory.  An informal party in the Billiard Room with the QT Bar as family and friends arrive can set the pace for the weekend.

We have created four seasonal proposals to celebrate your wedding day and the season in which it takes place.  Each one has a description of all the decorative items such as chair covers, candelabras, etc. and the complimentary items such as the bridal suite on the night of the wedding, menus, table plans, tasting, etc. which are included.  Our interesting and original seasonal menus for each proposal include the favourites such as fillet of beef and rack of lamb without any supplements.  The proposals include canapés, a six course gala wedding dinner, and a mid-night supper.  Guests are greeted at the door with a glass of Prosecco or a cocktail.  A half bottle of house wine per guest to accompany the dinner is also included. Choosing your menu and coordinating wines is critical to the success of your day and our Head Chef brings considerable expertise to this task along with our in-house wine specialist.  We will assist you with every choice and detail to achieve a match made in heaven.  There are no hidden extras in these proposals.  Of course, if you wish, you can add on fireworks, singing waiters, magicians, etc….the sky is the limit !

A light-hearted barbecue the day after is an opportunity to kick off your shoes and relax with your friends and family.  You are cordially invited to come see how unique we are for yourself !

Children locked up
Venue Service

By McConnell, on 08 Mar 2020Date of Wedding - 07 Mar 2020

During a wedding at this venue the owners took it upon themselves to lock our children away from their parents in a separate part of the hotel and then proceeded to deny it, understandably the children were very upset... can not recommend this venue or express my absolute dismay with the actions and attitude of the owners

Childminder’s Statement on the 7th of March, 2020 “I am a qualified special needs and childcare worker Garda vetted who looked after the children on Saturday, the 7th of March, along with another qualified childcare worker, Lorraine Spillane. I was in Kilshane House looking after children from 5:30 in the afternoon until midnight. I can say without hesitation that no door was locked as stated by the father of one of the flower girls. Lorraine asked the gentleman if he was sure the door was locked because they could be heavy and stiff and not easily opened by children if they were closed. It was late when he spoke to us and, at the time, we paid no heed to him as he was a bit under the weather.” Signed : Bridget Condon Kilshane House Owner’s Statement : We have had many children as guests throughout the twenty years we have been in business. We have always been responsible from a health and safety perspective to care for them but also to ensure that they genuinely enjoy being at a wedding here. We have made it clear that children must be supervised by qualified people at all times. We offer excellent trained childcare workers Garda vetted who the Hayes hired. Kilshane House is a private house not a hotel and we have never had televisions in the bedrooms. We do have a dedicated television room and, for important matches or racing, we have a projector screen television system as well. It is the bride and groom who decide whether they want children in the main event room or if they prefer them to dine together somewhere else. It is not the owner’s decision. The room Mr. and Mrs. Hayes stayed in is one that has frequently served as a bridal suite. It is 62 m2/721 sq.ft. not including the large bathroom en-suite. This is the size of many 2 bedroom apartments. They insisted on three camp beds in the room for their children which was provided for them. The rate for all bedrooms reserved here include very generous breakfasts as well.

Locked our children away from parents
Venue Service

By Brian McConnell, on 08 Mar 2020Date of Wedding - 07 Mar 2020

Hi we have just returned from my brother’s wedding and I would like everyone to know that the people who own/run Kilshane house locked our children and those of the other guest away in a separate part of the hotel during the wedding meal and then denied it, I cannot recommend this venue and found the owners attitude and actions appalling.
