About

In a private resort just outside Waterford City sit’s a majestic 17thcentury Georgian House. In true Downton style Faithlegg house offers a unique wedding venue complete with sumptuous antique furnishings, open fireplaces and period paintings.

Arriving through the gates you take the sweeping drive up to the main house and enter into a beautifully grand foyer adorned with a magnificent Waterford Crystal chandelier.

The function room is designed around a glass conservatory with views over the gardens, a private bar and personal terrace. We recently featured on RTE’s ‘Don’t tell the Bride’ as the bride’s dream wedding venue, and the refurbished room with wood panelling and opulent chandelier make it a truly dream location.

You’ll feel the house is exclusively yours for the day with the lounge, bar and gallery available for your arrivals reception and the beautiful Minaun room for your reception dinner.

The house has 82 bedrooms with 14 of those in the original house featuring open fireplaces and 4 poster beds. With a spa and golf course there’s plenty for your guests to do if you decide to make a weekend of your celebrations.

We offer an array of options for the day after from a picnic on the lawns complete with hay bales, Hog Roast and bunting to a delicious BBQ in our club house with its terrace overlooking the 1sttee.

The faithelgg experience

Wedding review.

I will start off by saying that the day of the wedding the staff themselves were fantastic and we had such a special day but thats where the positives finish

Leading up to the wedding we had numerous guests contact us because reception either refused to take a booking because a specific person was not there to take their booking. They were quoted a price and told that they would need to confirm and then when called to confirm they were unable to do so and then the price went up. Multiple people were told they would be called back but that never happened. We had 10% of members call/text us to get them to sort it out.

We were quoted a midweek rate for the wedding by the wedding coordinator at the time. Leading into the wedding we had a meeting with our wedding coordinator who claimed we signed it for a saturday rate (wedding was on a Thursday). This meant we didn't meet their minimum guests and would be paying for the extra. Some guests we had invited to the afters we now asked to the meal. On review of the contracts that evening it was not the case, the contract was just generic and mentioned no minimum numbers.

The day before the wedding I had booked for 6 players to play golf (4 play - 2 we were just letting put playing a scramble but still paid for them). No players behind us and a bunch of kids about 4 holes ahead of us with a slow rate of play. Enter faithleggs golf marshal who started following us around and aggressively insisting we split the groups into 4/2 or 3/3. His manner was intimidating, aggressive and was driving around in a golf cart. This became more aggressive as the round went on, was stopping traffic (theres a road parallel to the course) in a bid to put pressure on us. At around hole 9 he suddenly disappears only to be come driving up to us again hole 10 and start swearing at us. At this stage we rang the hotel basically to tell them their staff member was harassing us (he had told us he would follow us around all 18 holes)

We were told the manager would meet us on the course. Never showed up and after 30 minutes of waiting we decided to just head back to the hotel giving up on our round of golf. Found the manager who claimed that this lad was not a staff member had stolen a buggy with golf marshall on it and decided to harass us. We asked for an update as the guy was meant to be a member. Sure enough the day of the wedding he was out playing golf. Definitely something you want the day before your wedding.

I had asked the manager for an update. Didn't get one. Emailed him for an update and the response told me nothing just that there was a meeting with the member.

In summary if I could go back to when we could pick the venue, I would not choose here. We chose faithlegg because its nearby, had a sterling reputation and we were hoping that we could use the venue as an anniversary spot to enjoy a meal on the odd special occasion. Potentially had been considering joining the golf club there as well.

I do hope that any who choose here have the most special day of their life as we had, but can I honestly say it was due to the venue? I cannot

ground staff are amazing and the food was delicious

A magical Day

Each and every staff member were fantastic to us. As a team you are quite remarkable and could not possibly have done anymore to make our day more special than it was.
From our early discussions with Susie, Wedding Co-ordinator to our requests to your Head Chef Jenny, and the excellent assistance and advice from your Management team, we were always comfortable that our wedding was indeed in good hands. You really did make us feel that we were the only people that mattered. It felt at times we were the only wedding you had booked all year. You really made us feel that special. On the day itself your attention to detail was evident from very early on. The room was magnificent, all the work that went into the room set up was incredible. We brought lots of our own stuff into the room for the day and the staff set it up so well. A huge amount of work went into the room set up, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty. The staff were all so lovely to us and acted like it was no extra effort, even though I knew the effort was involved. The room was then magically turned around for the band with no apparent effort.
The food you served was excellent and served by very friendly and confident staff. In fact many of our guests passed comments on the “friendly staff who constantly smiled". Our brief to you was to give our guests a party to remember and you certainly delivered on that. Everyone is still commenting on the food - right from the drinks and canapés on arrival to the reception and the afters food, it was all perfect.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to make your big decisions easier.
