    Children locked up

During a wedding at this venue the owners took it upon themselves to lock our children away from their parents in a separate part of the hotel and then proceeded to deny it, understandably the children were very upset... can not recommend this venue or express my absolute dismay with the actions and attitude of the owners

    Kilshane House's reply:

Childminder’s Statement on the 7th of March, 2020

“I am a qualified special needs and childcare worker Garda vetted who looked after the children on Saturday, the 7th of March, along with another qualified childcare worker, Lorraine Spillane. I was in Kilshane House looking after children from 5:30 in the afternoon until midnight. I can say without hesitation that no door was locked as stated by the father of one of the flower girls. Lorraine asked the gentleman if he was sure the door was locked because they could be heavy and stiff and not easily opened by children if they were closed. It was late when he spoke to us and, at the time, we paid no heed to him as he was a bit under the weather.” Signed : Bridget Condon

    Kilshane House Owner’s Statement :

We have had many children as guests throughout the twenty years we have been in business. We have always been responsible from a health and safety perspective to care for them but also to ensure that they genuinely enjoy being at a wedding here. We have made it clear that children must be supervised by qualified people at all times. We offer excellent trained childcare workers Garda vetted who the Hayes hired. Kilshane House is a private house not a hotel and we have never had televisions in the bedrooms. We do have a dedicated television room and, for important matches or racing, we have a projector screen television system as well. It is the bride and groom who decide whether they want children in the main event room or if they prefer them to dine together somewhere else. It is not the owner’s decision. The room Mr. and Mrs. Hayes stayed in is one that has frequently served as a bridal suite. It is 62 m2/721 sq.ft. not including the large bathroom en-suite. This is the size of many 2 bedroom apartments. They insisted on three camp beds in the room for their children which was provided for them. The rate for all bedrooms reserved here include very generous breakfasts as well.

Locked our children away from parents

Hi we have just returned from my brother’s wedding and I would like everyone to know that the people who own/run Kilshane house locked our children and those of the other guest away in a separate part of the hotel during the wedding meal and then denied it, I cannot recommend this venue and found the owners attitude and actions appalling.
