We caught up with Steven to get his tips on how to turn your summer wedding into an extraordinary event.

What advice would you give to a bride planning a dream summer wedding?

I would suggest envisaging a dream-like atmosphere that relates to them in some way. Push the boundaries in the service and reception with floral features, a live artist or musician, mood lighting and some interesting space layouts.

If the weather is looking good, I would strongly suggest an outdoor wedding with mixed lanterns, festoon lighting, towering table centrepieces and pristine surroundings.

Should the season be a factor when deciding on the décor?

Yes, the décor must relate to your personality primarily but I think it is very important to use the surroundings and determine how it can play a part in your wedding. Whether it be a winter, summer or a spring wedding there are elements of each that can be incorporated.

So what décor ideas, colour schemes and themes would you suggest for a stunning summer wedding?

For summer, I would suggest choosing a bright, welcoming space with unique features, wall art and clean-line surfaces. Bring the colour out through florals, various patterned throws and linens that set a theme. This summer pattern, bold greens and mustards are on request. The bolder the personality the more adventurous brides will be!

What else can a bride do to ensure her wedding is a cut above the rest?

The bride should consider providing top class entertainment that suits all her guests as well as getting the lighting just right including directional beams, coloured up lighters and some fun projections.

I think the music and timing of things is very important to set the mood right and sync all performances and special effects. Sometimes some more elaborate features can highlight the event such as large themed props, ice sculptures and some detailed, dramatic draping.
