Tell us a little bit about Kristen Booth Photography and how you got started

My interest in photography began in school. I photographed my first wedding in 2010, while I was a few semesters into college. Within a few months, I had fallen head over heels in LOVE with it and knew there was no other career that I wanted. I proceeded to leave college and pursue my business. Today, I am a fulltime fairytale wedding and couples photographer, and I’m loooooving every minute!

How would you describe your photography style?

Fairytale, magical, and ethereal. I am passionate about castles, couture gowns, ruins, forests, and old-world romance. I strive to create images that have a storybook feel and yet, will still be timeless

Tell us about some of your favourite engagement shoots?

My favorite engagement sessions are usually the most dreamy ones, that take place at the most unique and beautiful locations. Connor and Deli’s shoot in Ireland is a great example:

I love when my clients want to wear princess-like gowns, work with magical props, and explore breath-taking locations. My best images always come from the couples who are down for anything and are willing to do whatever it takes to get the shot!

Do you recommend couples do an engagement shoot?

Absolutely! All of my wedding packages include a complimentary engagement session, for that very reason! It gives us a chance to work together in advance. By the time the wedding comes, they are seasoned modeling pros.

Tell us about some of your favourite weddings you have photographed

The weddings that take my breath away are the ones that have a perfect blend of personalised details and genuine emotion. It’s no secret that us photographers love to photograph the “fluff” of the wedding day…but the images that move me the most are the ones that capture the feelings of the day, while still having that fairytale essence. I think this wedding is a perfect example of that:

All your wedding and engagement photographs look so dreamy and magical, what do you think makes a great wedding picture?

Thank you! I think great wedding photos come from great planning and communication. I take many steps to determine everything that my couple desires in their photos and find a way to blend their requests and wishes with my photography style. I don’t always need the most magical location to create enchanting images, but having time to work with what I am given, definitely makes a difference!

Can you give brides and grooms any tips on how they can work with their photographer to create beautiful pictures?

In the planning, it’s so crucial to factor in enough time for the portraits. Listen to your photographer’s suggestions regarding the timeline and how much time they need. Obviously you don’t want to spend the WHOLE day posing for photos…but your investment of time will show in your photos, just as your monetary investment will, it’s worth it!

Also, I suggest every couple seriously consider a first look. 75% of my couples did one this year... and 100% of them agreed that it was the best decision for their day. Not only that, most brides told me that it was their favorite part of the day! I think the first look is less about “breaking tradition” and more about the evolution of modern weddings and NEW traditions!

How can couples interested in your photography contact you?

I would love if they stopped by my website www.kristenbooth.net and took a look around. There is a fun little storybook contact form on there, to reach me directly.
