Retro Wedding Makeup Tips
Wedding makeup artist Kelli Waldock shares
her top tips for creating a retro wedding look!
Retro is very popular amongst modern
brides, and one of the most inspirational looks for the makeup is the iconic 1950s actress Marilyn Monroe, because
it is glamorous, classic and can be adapted to suit anyone… Here is how I
achieved the stunning bombshell look on bride Natasha:
Firstly I used a good primer on Natasha’s
skin before applying the Airbase Airbrushing Foundation, this helps to even out
skin tone, and to minimize pores and fine lines.
I then applied a medium to full coverage of
the Airbase Airbrushing Foundation to get that flawless finish on the skin that
every bride desires.
I applied a natural beige eyeshadow over
the whole eyelid, and then shaded in the outer corner of the eye with a light
brown colour eyeshadow to create depth.
A black gel eyeliner was applied along the
top lash-line, this creates a thin defined line, which I winged up at the end
into that iconic retro flick.
I curled the lashes with a lash curler to
create a fuller curvier look, and applied lots of black mascara to the top
lashes and small coating to the bottom lashes.
The eyes were finished with a set of
beautiful show-stopping strip lashes to really open up the eyes, giving a
fluttery, flirty look.
I pencilled in over the natural shape of the
eyebrows to create more fullness and colour definition.
I shaded along under the cheekbone to
contour the cheeks, and then I applied a pinky-coral blusher along the
cheekbones to add some colour, and enhance the natural shape of her face.
I finished the vintage look by outlining
Natasha’s lips with a red lip-liner and then applying a beautiful poppy red
lipstick, which suits her skin tone. You may choose a berry red or pinky red
depending on what suits your skin tone and your personality best… either way
your lips will look super kissable for your groom on your wedding day!
